SUPPLIES OF RAW MATERIAL

Raw Materials , Scraps and Industry Inputs are Imported from other States of India via Land Routes i.e. by Road and Railways. Scraps and Re-Rolling materials generated from Heavy Industries, Hydel Projects, Thermal Projects, Railways,  State Electricity Boards and salvage of transport Vehicles etc. from different parts of India gets way to the Steel Town. Rerollable Materials viz -  Built, Bloom, Slabs etc produced in Steel Plants of SAIL are imported in Mandi Gobindgarh. 

Additional Imports from Foreign Countries is made through Sea Ports of:
                    #  Kandla which is at a distance of 1000 Km .
                    #  Bombay which is about 1500 Km away.

Dry port Ludhiana with container Frieght Station is about 45 Km away. It plays very important role in Imports of Melting Scrap in Containers from Dubai and African Countries.

Ship breaking yards at Alang, Bhavnagar (Gujrat) are one of the major source of melting scraps for induction furnaces and re-rollable scraps for small re-rolling mills.
